Steps to accessing Services from Disabled Student Programs and Services

Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSP&S) is office with primary responsible for determining and facilitating appropriate academic accommodations for students with disabilities.

In order for DSP&S to determine eligibility for services and the appropriate accommodations needed, a student must:

  1. APPLY AND BE ADMITTED TO THE COLLEGE

    Complete the college application for admission. Return it to College Admissions Office.
  1. PROVIDE VERIFICATION OF THEIR DISABILITY TO THE DSP&S OFFICE

    It is the responsibility of each student seeking accommodations and services to provide a comprehensive evaluation verifying the disabling condition and the resultant limitations. DSP&S will give you a medical verification form that must be completed by a physician or other appropriate professional.
  1. TAKE THE COLLEGE ASSESSMENT TESTS

    Contact DSP&S for disability-related accommodations.
  1. ATTEND A DSP&S PROGRAM ORIENTATION 
  1. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO MEET WITH THE DSP&S COUNSELOR

    Meet with the counselor each semester and complete intake procedures, discuss or review accommodations, develop a Student Education Plan, and address issues or concerns that may arise relating to your disability and the ways in which it relates to your education.
     
  2. ENROLLED IN RECOMMENDED CLASSES

    Instructions are in the class schedule. Be prepared to pay all fees at registration. When the Department of Rehabilitation pays tuition, documentation is required when you register.
