Where Are Spaces OK?

Space in file names
Notice the 20% in the URL?  It is really a space in the file name.  In some older versions of Netscape the page will not be displayed.

  •  Page Title -  Appears in the browsers title bar and contains spaces in either sentence or bookcase format.
  •  ALT Tags - Alternative text appears when you mouse over an image on a web page and should be in sentence format (just like this - spaces) for all image files in your site.

Where are spaces not ok?

  •  HTML Files
  •  Folders
  •  Images
  •  Anchor Names (avoid, older versions of Netscape don't like it)
  •  Any other documents you link to internally (WORD files, EXCEL files, PDF files, etc.)

NO SPACES, no characters except the _ and the . The underscore is used sometimes, but the period is rarely used.  Capital letters are used sparingly.  Remember... if it's part of the path... it doesn't have a space!

When you see the movie icon next to a question, click it to view a narrated Video Tutorial.  You'll need a high-speed connection or plenty of time to view these large files.  You'll also need the  Windows Media Format plug-in if you don't already have it.  You can also right click the icon and "Save Target As" to download the file.
