What to Take:
- Jacket
- Rubber-soled shoes; NO open toed shoes. Water
shoes, diving booties or any closed toed shoe with a "grippy" sole.
- tie-back for long hair
- Hat (w/cord works best) [optional]
- Sun-screen
- Pens/pencils for recording data
- Camera w/film
- Sunglasses (optional)
- towel (optional)
- Extra clothes and shoes (optional)
Directions to
Hospital Point:
Parking is on the street
in a residential area, please car-pool if possible and share expenses with the driver.
Directions: 11 miles North of San Diego,
from I-5, take the La Jolla Parkway exit to
the West. In 1.4 miles bear left on Torrey Pines Road.
Follow Torrey Pines Rd. to
Prospect and turn right at the light.
You will see the street splits into a "Y", follow to the right, to Coast
Blvd. From the top of the incline to where you need to be is exactly 1.0
mile. Continue driving along Coast Blvd. You will go past The Cove, past
Children's Pool Drive, turning right [still on
Coast] after the large grassy park. When you have driven 1
mile past the turn off from Prospect, you will have reached the second
one-way portion of Coast Blvd. Park your vehicle and meet at the
trailhead. Please talk in hushed tones only....this is a
residential neighborhood.
Please:
- be
considerate of others in this residential neighborhood and keep
your voices low,
- meet,
and wait for your instructor, at the top of the staircase leading to
the beach:

Allow sufficient time to safely drive the distance
from your home to La Jolla; be mindful of the time of day & potential
rush-hour traffic.

Coastal Processes Field Trip
When:
Wednesday, July 12: 6:00 a.m.
Where:
Fletcher Cove, Solona Beach.
Meet in the parking lot adjacent to the lifeguard station.

What to Take:
See excursion - 1, above.
Directions to
Fletcher Cove:
From Cuyamaca College, take 94 west > 125 north >
52 west > 805 north > take I-5 north, OR
go 94 west > 805 north > 5 north, to:
the Lomas Santa Fe exit, head west
and go over the railroad tracks. The parking lot is in the southwest
quadrant of the intersection of W. Plaza St. and Pacific Avenue.
