Text Box: From Strategy to Action...
The next phase of Cuyamaca College was showcased at the Fall 2004 Convocation.  The Strategic Plan 2004-2010 took center stage and marked the direction of the college for the next six years.  IPC wasted no time in moving forward.  At the first IPC meeting, of the fall ’04 semester,  Council members completed the necessary steps to transition from the 2001-2004 Strategic Plan to the 2004-2010 Plan.  There were ten “carry over” items from the ‘01-04 plan and ten new items from the ‘04-10 plan which were combined to make up the 2004-05 Annual Implementation Plan.  The first updates for the ‘04-05 Annual Implementation Plan are due in December.  Most of the activities for the Annual Implementation Plan are geared toward increasing enrollment.  Cuyamaca College is aggressively moving forward and continues to advance by putting into action the strategies that faculty and staff have identified in pursuit of

New Faculty
If you haven’t heard the good news by now, here it is…
IPC, by consensus, fully endorsed the faculty staffing  plan for 2005-2006.  That’s right!  New faculty—woo-hoo!  The Academic Master Plan Committee recommended seven faculty positions, the first four are funded and the college will continue to assess the financial feasibility of going  beyond the four funded positions.  The priority order is:
1. Graphic Design;
2. Communication Arts;
3. Political Science; and
4. Philosophy
The remaining three are:
7. Biology;
8. CIS; and
9. Ornamental Horticulture
Be ready to serve on a hiring committee!

Philosophy:  Leadership through vision is the foundation for the planning and policy-making process at Cuyamaca College.  The college engages all its members to ensure broad-based participation in campus decision-making.  This process assures that the college remains dynamic, futuristic and effective in meeting the educational needs of its community.

Overview of the Process:  The Innovation and Planning Council is the recognized shared governance structure for the college.  The Council will evolve, amend, and guide the planning and policy-making process for the college.

The college’s planning process provides a focus to mobilize and allocate its human, fiscal, technical and physical resources.  The college’s initiatives, both long-term and short-term, are defined, implemented, continuously reviewed, assessed, and updated to respond to the ever-changing needs of the student population and the demands of the external and internal environments.  A three-year planning cycle is used to implement the Cuyamaca College Strategic Plan and the District Strategic Plan.  An Annual Implementation Plan is developed by the Council using the Strategic Plan.

The college’s policy-making process provides a constituency review of all campus policies and committee structures.
