CIS MSDNAA Program

What is MSDNAA?

The MSDN Academic Alliance is an annual membership program for technical departments in the area of Computer Science, Engineering, and Information Systems. As a member, a department receives an MSDNAA subscription that includes Microsoft platform, servers, and developer tools software. This software may be installed on any number of departmental lab machines. The software must be used for instructional and/or research purposes; it may not be used to run the infrastructure of the department. In addition, the CIS department faculty and students may purchase the software to install on their personal computers.

The following software titles are available to students enrolled in CIS classes at Cuyamaca:

* In order to get the free software, log into the MSDNAA site, acquire the installation key and inform your instructor which software you want. Your instructor will then send your order in to the MSDNAA administrator on campus. You should receive your software from your instructor at your next scheduled class time.

    This software comes packaged as a CD and license only. This software can be purchased by students, faculty and staff from schools participating in the Microsoft Student Select program only.

How do students get this software?

1. Get the password emailed to your college email account. See http://www.cuyamaca.edu/cc/email.asp
2. Login to the ELMS web site http://msdn08.e-academy.com/cuyamaca_cis/ using the instructions emailed to you
3. Locate the software your want to order under the software option.
4. Choose the delivery option.
5. Click the "Get It" button.
6. Fill in the order details.

Details

1. An email with your password and instructions for ordering the software will be sent to your college email account. This will normally happen during the third week of the the first semester you enroll in any CIS class. The automatic email is only sent one time. You must save the MSDNAA information for access to the MSDNAA software in future semesters. The college purges email accounts at the end of each semester. If the information is not in your in box and you did not save the information you will need to have your account information resent to you. Send an email using your college email account to Cheryl Alvarez at cheryl.alvarez@gcccd.edu requesting that your MSDNAA password be reset.
2. All students have a web based email account created for them when they enroll. The email accounts are userid@students.gcccd.edu.  If you are having problems with your college email account contact one of the CIS lab tech's for assistance.
3. Students can access their college email account via the link from the college web site or use this URL: http://www.cuyamaca.edu/cc/email.asp.
4. Software distribution is managed through the ELMS system (Electronic License Management System) sponsored by Microsoft. The CIS department is only responsible for the setup of the software delivery.
5. The ELMS web site is neither owned or operated by the college. There may be times when the ELMS web site will not be accessible.
6. Neither Cuyamaca College or the CIS department receive any money for these purchases.
7. A credit card is required for payment of the CD and shipping for software which is not listed as Free.
   Prices do not include shipping and are subject to change without notice.
8. You must provide your own blank CD-ROM for software listed as Free.

11. You cannot change your delivery option once an order has been started.

Activation Keys

• Some software requires the use of an activation key.
• If your software requires an activation key you will receive it when you download the software. If you order the software for home delivery then the activation key will be located on the back of the CD case.
• The activation key can only be used on one computer.

Support

• Support for installation of the software is provided by your instructor.
