Telecommunications Networking Technology

The Institute for Telecommunications Technologies (IT²) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technological Education (ATE) funded project located on the campus of Cuyamaca College, El Cajon, California.

The NSF grant provides funding to develop a world-class education program at Cuyamaca College, comprising telecommunications and networking curriculum, multimedia and web-based delivery, "hands-on/engaged" teaching and learning labs, teacher training workshops, and success strategies for woman in information technologies and telecommunications. The program focus is on emerging technologies, such as high-speed networks, wireless LANs network security, fiber optics, and convergence technologies that merge voice, video, and data applications on a single IP network.

To enhance the scope and impact of this unique program, IT² is associated with many members of the telecommunications industry and other educational institutions. IT² is the California Regional Partner in the National Center for Telecommunications Technologies (NCTT) Partnership Project sponsored by the NSF ATE program
