program description
This area of emphasis prepares students for careers in computer networking and related fields. Students completing this certificate may find entry-level positions as network administrators, computer technicians, web masters or as help desk service providers. Students with this emphasis will be prepared to work as team members in an Information Technology group that evaluates, tests, installs and maintains corporate networks. Students can advance with more training and experience in this fast-paced, growing industry. The CIS department offers Cisco Network Academy and A+ certifications.
This area of emphasis prepares students for careers working with many different forms of electronic media and the delivery of this media, particularly via the Internet of Intranet. Students completing this certificate will be able to create electronic media from a wide variety of sources and to deliver this media over a variety of channels. Students may find entry-level positions as web masters, web designers, web developers or web programmers.

The Telecommunications Networking Technology Program prepares students with the technical and management skills necessary to enter careers in design, application, installation, management, operation, and/or maintenance of computer and telecommunications networking systems, including convergent voice, data, and video communications over IP networks. Graduates of this program will have specific strengths in the building, testing, operation, and maintenance of computer and telecommunications networking systems. Certificate recipients will work in areas such as research, design, field service, and technical support for telephone companies, low voltage cable installers, Internet service providers, cable and wireless communications companies, and communications equipment manufacturers.
