- Here are the answers to a few frequently asked questions. For additional information
regarding Counseling and other academic support services, consult the College Catalog. Be sure to call us if you

- What Services does Counseling offer?
- Counseling offers assistance with academic advising, career advising, career decisions
and personal problens which may interfere with college success. Counselors also teach
personal development courses to assist students with college success, career planning,
study skills and superlearning techniques.
- How can I find out about programs offered?
- Consult the College Catalog
beginning on page on page 49.
- What courses do I need to complete my associate degree?
- Sixty units are required to complete the associate degree. Approxinately half of the
courses are general education and half are courses in the major. See page 47 of the College
Catalog for more details.
- Are Cuyamaca courses transferrable to the California State University System and the
University of California?
- Cuyamaca College is is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges
which assures transferability of college livel courses. See a counselor to obtain a list
of transferrable courses for the college you wish to attend. See pages 40-46 of the College Catalog for detailed transfer
information.
- How can I be sure that the courses I am taking will transfer to the college of my
choice?
- See a counselor for assistance. Some important transfer options include certification,
Transfer Admission Guarantee and the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum
(IGETC). See the College Catalog
pages 40-46 for detailed transfer information.
- What if I am undecided about my major?
- Many college students are undecided about their major. Counselors have developed a
course, Personal Development Counseling 120, which helps students decide on a major as
well as apply superlearning techniques. The course assists the student in assessing
personality, interests, aptitudes and values as preparation for career research. The
Career Center and Learning Resources Center have many sources of career information.
