Hello and welcome! We are very glad that you are interested in Cuyamaca College. By now you probably already know a few things about us, but perhaps not everything you need to know about the DSPS department. What follows are answers to our most frequently asked questions. For more information feel free to call us.

What services are offered to students with disabilities?
We provide services such as enrollment and registration assistance, special counseling, speech-language services, on-campus transportation, assessment for learning disabilities, tutoring for students with learning disabilities, note takers, interpreters for the deaf, referrals to on-campus and community resources, test proctoring, test facilitation and Recordings for the Blind facilitation. Other services may be available based on individual needs.

DSPS also has special equipment that we loan out to students with special needs. Equipment includes a Comtek, magnifier, enlarger, NCR paper, TDD, backpacks, enlarged keyboard, tape recorders, wheelchairs and crutches.

Is the campus accessible?
The Cuyamaca college campus is fairly accessible. On-campus transportation is available for those needing special assistance. The campus is relatively small, so there are not major concerns. All of the facilities are completely accessible. There is a ramp where needed, and the Learning Resources building has an automatic door.

Are the special courses available?
Yes. We offer PDSS 080, Diagnostic Assessment, and PDSS 090-093, Learning strategies Practicum, for students who want to improve such skills as note taking, test taking, time management, comprehension, spelling and math, in order to enhance their progress in other college courses, and Speech 101-104, Speech Improvement.

Do you have Section 504 and ADA Coordinators?
Yes, Cuyamaca College completed its ADA Self-Study and is in full compliance with the law, although we continually try to improve accessibility issues as they arise. The campus has few accessibility problems as it is a relatively new campus, having been built in 1978.
For information about academic programs and other activities and services, consult the College Catalog.
