ARTICLE I The name of this organization shall be the Cuyamaca College Spanish Club. ARTICLE II The purpose of the club is to promote student interest in the Spanish language and the culture and history of the Spanish speaking countries. The club will plan trips both educational and social in nature with a goal of enhancing Spanish language acquisition, comprehension, and cultural awareness. It will host on-campus activities such as lectures, presentations, films and music. ARTICLE III Section 1. All members must be currently enrolled at Cuyamaca College and hold active ASCC cards. Section 2. Membership selection is open without regard to race, religion, sex or national origin. (Guidelines No. 3) ARTICLE IV
Section 2. Executive officers will be elected through democratic election by the club members present. Section 3. Executive officers must carry a minimum of three units and have a current ASCC card. Section 4. PresidentRuns meetings and directs the focus of the club. Maintains the organization according to proper parliamentary procedure. Directs and communicates with other officers and members. Stands in for other officers as needed. Interacts with the faculty advisor. Vice PresidentCoordinates meetings, implements committee plans, and assists other officers. Stands in for President as needed. Secretary/CommunicationsRecords the minutes of the meetings. Helps coordinate the meetings and events. Prepares club newsletter. Promotes club events. Maintains correspondence. Fosters communication among club members, officers, and advisor. Assists other officers. TreasurerKeeps a record of the club's financial status. Provides a current financial report to the officers and advisor, and plans and directs fundraising events. Directs the collection of money at each fund raising activity or event. Activity Director/Public RelationsDirects the work of the activity planning committees. Researches, coordinates and directs the events. Assists communications officer in promotion of events. Communicates planning and progress to officers and club members. Section 5. Vacancy of office will be filled by democratic vote of the club members present. Section 6. Executive officers will be elected at the end of the spring semester for a term of one year. ARTICLE V Section 1. Membership dues will be established by the executive board and collected at the beginning of each term. ARTICLE VI Section 1. The selection of the advisor will be made by democratic vote before a general assembly of the members. Section 2. The advisor will be a full-time faculty or staff member. Section 3. The faculty advisor must be present at all registered campus activities of the organization and all club meetings. ARTICLE VII Meetings will be held as determined at the beginning of each semester based on student and advisor schedules. ARTICLE VIII Activities will be planned by the officers and members for further benefit of the club members and other Cuyamaca and Grossmont students. ARTICLE IX If an amendment is proposed, two-thirds of the membership present at a general meeting is required for ratification. 5/1/98
