This environment can be extremely slow depending upon the number of students using the system, the speed and quality of your computer and the speed of your Internet connection. For the online class section: A copy of the class virtual machine (VM) can be obtained from the CIS lab technician for use on your home computer. Bring your own USB hard drive to load the VM on. The VM requires approximately 20GB of free space. Most labs can be accomplished via this method. Those requiring use of the online lab environment are those requiring the class server (networking, file sharing, etc. For in-class section students: You will check out a USB hard drive from the Cuyamaca College Library Circulation Desk. On the drive is a copy of the class VM. You will be able to keep this drive throughout the semester. Bring it to class each week as it will be your lab environment. You can complete most labs using this environment from home. The labs requiring access to classroom resources (networking, file sharing, etc.) must be completed in the campus lab. |
