Midterm Exam: Group Research Presentation
An International Cuisine from a Cultural and Historical
Perspective
·
In groups of 4 or 5, students will prepare a 15-20 minute oral
presentation on one international dish.
·
Begin your presentation by writing the title of the presentation
on the board, along with the names of all the presenters.
·
Discuss a recipe from your country by explaining the cultural
history behind the recipe, its origins, and geographical
background. Bring maps and other visuals.
·
Bring the prepared dish to share with the class the morning of
your presentation.
·
You must explain the process and give instructions on how to
prepare this dish.
·
Students should work together outside of class to practice and
do research. Points are given for teamwork.
·
It is extremely important that students work together to plan
and practice this presentation outside of class. All members of
the group are expected to contribute equally, and your
participation (or lack of it) may well mean the success (or
failure) of your group’s assignment.
·
Presentation must follow these guidelines:
1.
15-20 minutes in length
2.
Include a map and visual aids (such as photographs) to
support the presentation
3.
Include step-by-step written instructions on how to
prepare the dish
4.
Grades are given based on thoroughness, preparation,
effective communication, and effort.
5.
Each presenter must bear his/her fair share of
preparation and presentation. Students doing less work will
receive fewer points.
