STEP 1: Find articles

DIRECTIONS to find articles: 1) Go to Library homepage.  2) Click on Databases A-Z.  3) Select a database.  Note: if you use one of these databases from a remote location, you must enter your campus username and password.

  • Proquest - San Diego Union Tribune database

  • General Onefile - database of articles from magazines and journals.

  • CQ Researcher - Excellent for political, social, family, education and health issues.

  • Opposing viewpoints - controversial issues. 

STEP 2: Use websites

California provides statistics on the state and all its counties in the California Statistical Abstract

Immigration Issues
California has passed several propositions that effect immigrants, search the historical propositions at the University of California, Hastings College of Law.  Click on
California Ballot Proposition Database, you can either search by keyword [immigration] or by proposition no. [187 or 227].  Several major research organizations have offered policy recommendations in dealing with Immigration, including National Center for Policy Analysis, American Immigration Law Foundation, and National Conference of State Legislatures
