Career Technical Education (CTE) Teacher Pipeline Initiative


CTE Grant: This newly received grant will be used to develop a program that will address the anticipated shortage of secondary and community college Career Technical Education (CTE) teachers.  Cuyamaca College, in conjunction with high schools and baccalaureate-granting institutions, will identify, recruit, enroll, and retain students in courses designed to provide a pathway leading to a teaching career in one of today’s CTE fields.

PURPOSE of this website is to provide an overview of the Library resources you need to get started teaching at the community college level.
 
How to I find and borrow books?

     1) Use the Library to become an expert in a specific field. According to Robert Bly in his e-book titled, 101 Ways to Make Seconds Count, " All of us work in areas about which we have some degree of knowledge. Wouldn't it be nice to contribute more and get more noticed in a more favorable light? Go to the library and do some reading and research."  Bly suggests you build a folder of information clipping file of information and; use this expertise to help clients or employees.

How do I find articles at Cuyamaca Library about the latest trends in teaching?
You may use computers in library. remote access is for student use only.
1. Go to Library homepage and select Academic Onefile database.
2. Go to the Library homepage and select "Articles and databases A-Z", then click on  "E" to find

How do I keep abreast of  the legal issues?

Teachers must learn about the numerous legal issues possible in order to protect themselves against becoming involved in court cases. The number of lawsuits in education is on the rise. Research shows that teachers consider legal issues the third most essential area of teacher preparation. Few teacher preparation programs offer undergraduate courses in educational law, and few studies detail legal issues that student teachers must know.
