Math 88
Instructor: Mr. D. Tran

Purpose: Select a mathematician and discuss what that person discovered and where in the world it is applied.
To be familiar with a mathematician who expanded humankind's understanding of mathematics.  You will write a two-page biography on a mathematician that focuses on his or her contribution to mathematics.

Procedure:

1.  Use the Cuyamaca College Library as your main research location. View your research assignment.

2.  Search for a mathematician who interests you.

3.  Then use the various library resources to find out about your mathematician's life and contribution(s) to mathematics.

 4.  Focus on your mathematician's impact on the mathematics and science fields.  Also, elaborate on his or her impact on our everyday world.

(Call #: QA 28 N66 1998). You may also check out books from Cuyamaca or Grossmont College.  Use the Library Catalog and type in the subject, "mathematicians" for a list of book titles.

5.  Your biography must be two typed pages long (not including pictures).  Please use Times New Roman, size 12.  Your report must be double-spaced and include a bibliography.  Also, if you are using other authors' work in your biography, then please properly cite them.  Not citing them is plagiarism.  Use the various library resources to find out how to write a bibliography and to cite work.
