PURPOSE This research guide is to help you complete an argumentative/persuasive essay. 

Please choose a local issue or one that concerns you directly. Here are some possibilities:

  • Cougar abatement in the mountains (in Proquest use "cougar legislation"; in GO use "puma" or "mountain lion")

  • Which highways should be built in the country? Toll roads?

  • Where should the airport be relocated?

  • Should we provide birth control or abortion services to high school students?

  • Bilingual enduaction reform - necessary but which reform is best in our local districts?

  • How do we deal with pollution in San Diego Bay?

  • Animal research at UCSD - human rights V. animal rights

  • Operation Gatekeeper: immigration control, homeland security, vigilantes

  • "Toilet to tap" water reclamation.
