How to Write a Research Paper

The Three "Legs" of Research
Just as a stool needs three legs to keep it from falling over, a good research paper rests on three types of resources. These are...
  1. Reference Materials (encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, etc.)
  2. Books
  3. Periodicals (journals and magazines)

Each type of resource has its own strengths, and each type has its own weaknesses. Fortunately, the strengths of one help cover for the weaknesses of the others. They work together to give your paper the balance it needs, so your paper won't fall over.
