A Lunar Eclipse
and
Star Filled Evening
at
Cuyamaca College
Cuyamaca College will host the fourth Star Filled Evening, Saturday November
8, 2003. The viewing area will be the PE track. Astronomy students
will use powerful telescopes, ten 8" Celestrons, set on things like the moon,
Mars, the Andromeda Galaxy, a globular cluster, a binary star and the Ring Nebula. Showtime
will be 5-9 PM. The Eclipse will only be total from about 5-5:30 PM. |
The schedule will adapt to the crowd, but we already have a tentative schedule.
All telescopes will be on the moon until about 5:30. After that telescopes
will turn to subjects like Mars, the Ring Nebula, an open cluster, a
globular cluster, Alberio and the Andromeda Galaxy. Most of the telescopes will be operating at about 100 power.
Admission is free and parking is free, but there is some walking involved. There is adequate handicapped parking immediately adjacent to the viewing site and mass transportation nearby. It is entirely outdoors, so dress warm.
Weather updates will be available by calling 660-4000 ext 3193.
