Availability
of your course's Blackboard site
begins on
Monday, 8/25/2008, and ends with the final exam. Earlier site access before the beginning of the semester will
not
be possible (so please do not e-mail the instructor to request earlier
access). In
order to log in, you must be enrolled in one of Dr. Carmona's classes.

To get started in
the course,
please read and follow
all of the instructions
below:

LOG IN to Blackboard at
http://bb.gcccd.edu
using your default user
name (firstname.lastname)
and password
(your 6-digit birth date—e.g., 012580 for January 25, 1980). [Please
note that the user name format shown here is the new default
as of Fall 2008.]
If
you are unable to log in, try the following:
-
Double-check to make sure
that you have entered your default user name and password correctly.
-
If you have previously
used Blackboard at Cuyamaca College, try using your “old” user
name and password, especially if it differs from the new
default. Most of the "old" user names (many of
which are still in use) follow this format:
firstnamelastname

If
after repeated attempts, you are still unable to log in to
Blackboard, please click below to submit a problem report
immediately
to Dr. Carmona. (Please
do
not
use Blackboard's "Create Account" function, as it
will only complicate matters and delay your first log-in)

FIND THE
BLACKBOARD SITE FOR YOUR COURSE.
Once
you have successfully logged
in to Blackboard, find
the link to the appropriate course site and enter it. The link should
be visible on the first screen after log-in.

COURSE STARTUP
(to be completed right
away at the beginning of the course).
From the opening screen of the appropriate course's
Blackboard site, enter
the pages/links listed below and perform the requested tasks:

Personal
Information Page (button).
Enter your personal
e-mail
address (one that you already check frequently) so that
you can be sure to receive announcements and messages regarding the
course.
It is a
requirement that you read and respond to the instructor's
e-mail communications in a timely manner. Neglecting or
forgetting to check for course-related e-mails will not be accepted
as an excuse for failing to keep up with these important
communications.

not already have a "hardcopy" of the syllabus, then please
download and print out a copy.

Inside the syllabus, locate the
Schedule of Assignments, etc.,
and carefully take note of the assignments that will be due during
the first three weeks of the course.

1. Follow the series
of links to the discussion page for your course section, enter, and
take a look at Discussion 1 (which is an assignment that you will
soon need to complete). On the same page, click also on the
link marked "Evaluation Criteria for Online Discussions" and print
out that document for future reference.
