New DLH Foundation Scholarship:

The DLH Foundation is pleased to announce its Deana LaRae Hughes scholarship established in her memory.  The foundation will award as many as 3 scholarships of up to $1,200 each to deserving college students whose lives have been affected by esophageal and/or stomach cancer.  Please see the Flyer for eligibility criteria.  DEADLINE: July 1, 2012 AWARD: $1,200

Abbott & Fenner Scholarship

All applicants should include their full name and mailing address with their submissions.

AWIS (2012-2013)

The San Diego Chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is offering scholarships to community college, undergraduate, and graduate women in San Diego County who are in pursuit of a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).  Each year we award $1000 scholarships to women pursuing degrees in the STEM fields in San Diego County. BBG Communications Scholarships

To be considered eligible for the BBG Communications Scholarship you must be between the ages of 16 and 21 on June 30, 2012.  Applicants must submit answers to the two essay questions, which can be found on the application page, prior to the June 30, 2012 deadline.  Applicants must have at least one full year of post secondary studies remaining at the time of the award.  All applicants have a GPA of 2.5 or greater and be a citizen of the United States or Canada.  The scholarship winner will be announced on or around July 30, 2012 and will be posted on this website immediately after. Students applications must be received by 11:59PM ET on June 30, 2012.  No late applications will be reviewed.    Award $ 1,000 in scholarships.

Big Dig Scholarships

Scholarship Eligibility: To be eligible for the "Big Dig Scholarship" you must be able currently in the grade 12 and planning on entering into your first year of college /university. Building Industry Association Scholarships

The scholarship is open to full time college students who graduated from a high school in San Diego County

or college students living and attending college here in San Diego. In addition, you must be a California resident. Student demonstrates an interest in pursuing a career in the building industry. Many majors such as advertising, finance, construction management, architecture, carpentry, city planning, real estate, and interior design, to name a few, play an integral role in the building industry. 

Submit Application To: BIA Cares Scholarship Committee at the Building Industry Association, 9201 Spectrum Center Boulevard, Suite 110, San Diego, CA 92123, by April 20, 2012. Please submit a copy of your transcripts (official or unofficial acceptable) together with the application.

California Restaurant Association Scholarship

CRAEF has awarded deserving students and educators more than one million dollars in scholarships and grants. These scholarships are allocated to eager and talented high school seniors and undergraduate students who dream of pursuing higher education in the restaurant, food service and hospitality industries.  The CRAEF Board of Directors carefully selects scholarship recipients during an annual application and interview process. Worthy recipients are chosen on the basis of their overall scholastic achievement, enthusiasm, creativity and potential within the industry.

California Retired Teachers Association Scholarship 2012

Three $1,500.00 Scholarships available for application by students pursuing a certificated teaching credential from an accredited college. Applicants must be eligible for transfer in the fall of 2012 (60 unit minimum) and have a 3.00 or higher GPA.  Student must verify eligibility with transcripts showing record and verify in essay the desire to pursue a teaching career or major at the elementary, secondary or college level in a public school setting. Interview will also be required.  Application available in the Financial Aid Office and posted on line.  Deadline for Applications March 1, 2012 (5:00 P.M.) submit to the Cuyamaca College Scholarship Office. Sponsored by the South Shores Division of the California Retired Teachers Association Division 60.

Emancipated Youth Scholarship Criteria

12th grade student enrolling in a four-year College or University OR currently attending a Community College and ready to transfer to a four-year College or University Weighted Grade Point Average of 2.75 or above from ninth grade to first semester of 12th grade OR a cumulative GPA of 2.5 for Community College courses Minimum SAT score of 1,350 (not applicable for transfer students) or ACT score of 19 Economically disadvantaged: HUD standard of poverty to serve as a guide (Income information of parents or foster parents of emancipated youth is not required) U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident Evidence of extracurricular activities (school/community involvement/employment) Community Service and above average attendance.  Deadline PASSED.  Scholarship Applications must be received at Change a Life Foundation

Executive Women International (EWI) of San Diego Scholarship

EWI of San Diego annually awards scholarship monies to help San Diegans achieve their academic goals. EWI of San Diego will award two $2,500 Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) scholarships and honor the two award recipients at the ASIST Scholarship Awards Dinner on June 19, 2012. Applications will be reviewed and qualified; independent judging process begins, including personal interviews of top candidates. Three award recipients will be selected and notified. All additional applicants will be notified.

Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship

The Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship is open to currently enrolled high school seniors or first-year college students. To be eligible for this award, you must be a U.S. citizen, be under 25 years of age and answer both of the following two essay questions: in under 1000 words, "Why is a healthy lifestyle important in school?" and in under 500 words, describe your career plans, goals and personal ambitions. Award $ 5,000 in scholarships.

Man Mac Automatic Scholarships

Scholarship eligibility: Be enrolled or expect to be enrolled in an undergraduate program by the Fall of 2012. The school you attend must be located within Canada or the United States. National FFA Organization Scholarships

The National FFA Organization awards approximately $2 million in scholarships designed to fit the diversity of our applicants.  The selection process takes into account the whole student - FFA involvement, work experience, Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), community service, leadership skills and academics.

Nursing (NHA) Scholarship 2012

Created by NursingHomeAbuse.net, this scholarship is awarded exclusively to an applicant who is pursuing a career that will help combat nursing home abuse.  A $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution. This scholarship will help pay for non-tuition related expenses for the 2012-2013 academic year. Such expenses can include but are not limited to: Rent, Childcare, Travel/Gas, Books/Supplies. Utilities, and Groceries.  Eligible candidates must be currently attending an accredited post-secondary institution, be a US citizen, receiving some type of financial aid and earning a degree in Nursing (a background in geriatrics is preferred), Social Work, Psychology, or Healthcare Administration with which you are considering using to work with the senior citizen population or to help combat nursing home abuse

Odenza Marketing Scholarship

To be considered eligible for the Odenza Marketing Scholarship you must:
You must be between the ages of 16 and 25 on March 30, 2012.  Submit answers to the essay questions, which can be found on the application page, prior to the March 30, 2012 deadline.  The applicant must have at least one full year of post secondary studies remaining at the time of the award. Peace Scholarships

You are eligible for this Peace Scholarship if both of these apply:
If you are a high school senior or college freshman at time of application, AND You must provide evidence of leadership and/or personal initiative in activities or in an organization (including volunteer of paid work) relating to peace and social justice, nuclear disarmament, and/or conflict resolution.

Has teamed up with their members, non-profit supporters of LGBT youth, and individual sponsors to offer scholarships to San Diego County residents. The purpose of these scholarships is to recognize outstanding LGBT undergraduate and graduate students, to encourage them to continue post-secondary education, and to promote a positive image of LGBT youth.  PFLAG San Diego invites San Diego County LGBT post-secondary students to apply for our scholarships.  APPLICATION DEADLINE: PASSED. Soroptimist International Scholarships (2011-2012):

- Women’s Opportunity Award

Eligible recipients must be women who provide the primary financial support for their families, and who are enrolled in or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.  The women may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, including books, childcare and transportation. - Ruby Award

This award is designed to recognize women who work to improve the lives of women and girls through their personal, professional or volunteer avenues.  A Ruby Award recipient should be a woman who has made a significant impact on the lives of women and girls and who would inspire and encourage other women. Last year each Region provided $5000 to the recipient’s favorite charity.  This application deadline is PASSED.

SMART Scholarship

Udall Scholarships (2012-2013):

In 2012, the Foundation expects to award 80 scholarships of up to $5000 and 50 honorable mentions of $350 to sophomore and junior level college students be committed to a career related to the environment, OR committed to a career in tribal public policy OR Native American health care.

- Only Native Americans and Alaska Natives are eligible to apply in tribal public policy or Native

  American health care.

- Native American students studying tribal public policy or native health do not need to demonstrate

  commitment to the environment.

- Likewise, students pursuing environmentally related careers do not need to be Native American,

  nor do they need to demonstrate commitment to tribal public policy or Native health.

The scholarship program is open to students attending or planning to attend a college or university, a community college, or a technical college or trade school.  Applicants for scholarships are evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need and appreciation of labor.  Vancouver Restaurant Scholarship

To be eligible for the Vancouver Restaurant Scholarship you must be between the ages of 15 - 21, as of the May 30, 2012 deadline.  Be a resident of either United States or Canada, and a full time student in 2012 in either High School or College/University. (Trade Schools and 2 year programs are acceptable).  Answer the Essay question found on the Application page in 500 words or less. Award $ 500 in scholarships.  All applications must be received by May 30, 2012.

To be considered for this scholarship, the student must have a cumulative GPA above 3.0, must either be graduating high school or completing his or her first year of college in the spring, and must be enrolled in an accredited two or four year institution of higher learning for the following fall quarter/semester. Computer Science and Computer Engineering Degrees - Undergraduate Academic Award
$1,000 academic award given to a student pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
 

Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Major - Undergraduate Academic Award

A $500  Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement concentration.

 

Liberal Arts and General Studies Majors Undergraduate Academic Award

 A $500 award given to a student pursuing an associate or bachelor degree emphasizing Liberal Arts, General Studies, or Humanities.

 

Architecture and Drafting Degrees - Undergraduate Academic Award

A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing an associate or bachelor degree emphasizing Architecture, Architectural Drafting, Architectural Design, or Architectural Engineering.

 

Undergraduate Distance Learning Degrees - Academic Award

A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing a distance learning associate or bachelor degree program. Available to all part-time or full-time undergraduate students completing an online degree program.

 

San Diego Flower and Plant Association 

A scholarship of various amounts, it is given to Ornamental Horticulture, Sothern California Resident, with a preference for San Diego County residents.  Applicants must have a commitment to production horticulture industry, both as a student and in career objectives.
