Welcome to Introduction to Network Security

The class will teach you the basics of computer network security.  It incorporates the objectives of Comptia's Security+ exam.

 ONLINE Students!!

Online students need to have access to a reliable computer and a good Internet connection. See How an Online Class Works for details.

Here's what you need to do in January:

  • send me an e-mail after you enroll
  • complete the orientation during the first week of school

ONLINE ORIENTATION must be finished by the end of the first week or you may be dropped.

I use WebCT for class management (quizzes, grades, turning in work, discussion), so part of the online orientation assignment is to do some things in WebCT.  The course Web site has a link to the WebCT login which will be active on August 21.  Let me know if you are unable to log in to WebCT with your college user name (firstlast) and PIN (6-digit birthday).

If you have never used WebCT or need a review, here are some video demonstrations about WebCT:

To get started with the class after August 21, go to the online schedule and do everything listed for the current week.  Click any links in the schedule for instructions, demonstrations, presentations, etc.  You'll want to begin every class session with the online schedule.

All assignments and quizzes are due at midnight, on the Sunday of each week.  I will not accept late submissions.

If you are new to online learning, it will probably take a few weeks to get used to how I do things.
