Dr. Doyle received a B.A. in psychology from the Santa Clara University and a Ph.D.in psychology from Arizona State University. After teaching as an adjunct psychology instructor at Grossmont College, San Diego State University, and MiraCosta College, he became a founding member of the full-time faculty at Cuyamaca College (where he remains today). He continued to teach at San Diego State University as an adjunct faculty lecturer for the next 25 years. His courses have included Introductory Psychology, Human Sexuality (both lower and upper division courses), Developmental Psychology, Individual Adjustment, Learning, Perception, and Abnormal Psychology. At SDSU, he was an interim director of graduate teaching assistants (TAs), participated in an experimental interdisciplinary program called "Coordinated Freshman Studies," and taught in the "Honors Psychology" program. Dr. Doyle has taught Native-Americans at the Viejas Reservation in Alpine, CA, and Camp Pendleton Marines at MiraCosta College. At Cuyamaca College, he served as Chair of the Behavioral Sciences and coordinated psychology since the college's opening.
Besides his continued commitment to teaching, Dr. Doyle has authored an Instructor's Manual and lecture transparencies for Rod Plotnik's Introductory Psychology textbook. Always interested in using new technology and exploring alternative delivery methods (he taught in the Telecourse program for 15 years and was a Cuyamaca pioneer in online learning starting in 2000), Dr. Doyle is now developing interactive, multimedia approaches to teaching (see below). For his Fall 08 sabbatical, he developed an online teaching resource site for the college ( http://www.cuyamaca.edu/teachingonline ).
Dr. Doyle has also developed and published six versions of the interactive multimedia project, PowerStudy for Introduction to Psychology, which is now included in many Introductory Psychology courses. He is now designing interactive animations for an online, multimedia handbook version of the Plotnik/Kouyoumdjian psychology textbook.. |
