HEAD COACH

Lorri Sulpizio, Head Coach

Lorri Sulpizio takes over Cuyamaca after spending 9 years at San Diego Mesa College, 6 years as head coach. In the 2001-02 season, Sulpizio led Mesa to an undefeated Pacific Coast conference championship and a 23-10 overall record. Her teams experienced continued success, including multiple players named to the All Conference team, team rankings in the top-25, and multiple players awarded scholar-athletes each year.

While at Mesa, Sulpizio saw more athletes on to university programs than any other San Diego Community College Women's basketball program. In addition to her work with the women’s basketball team, Sulpizio also taught Health Education, Techniques of Weight Training, Exercise Leadership and other activity classes. Very committed to the field of fitness and health, Sulpizio has published several articles on fitness, specifically on women’s fitness issues such as fitness during pregnancy.

She began coaching in the early 1990's in North County with Bernardo Heights Middle School and has continued coaching at various levels since. She coached at the high school level in San Luis Obispo and was the director of the San Luis Obispo RAGE club program where she led the 7th grade Rage to a State Championship. In San Diego, Sulpizio coached with the Elite Club Team from 1999-2001 before taking over Mesa's program.

Sulpizio holds 4 national certifications in personal training and advanced athletic conditioning. She received her bachelor's degree in English from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, her master's degree from SDSU in Physical Education and is currently completing her Doctorate degree in Leadership at USD.
