Don Jones
Don has been working in the Water and Wastewater Industry for over 35 years. He has a genuine desire to inspire others to succeed. This desire, and his vast industry experience come to life within each class lecture. Don holds an Associate of Science in Supervision from Grossmont College, a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from San Diego State University, and a Master of Arts in Human Resources and Organization Development from the University of San Francisco. Don is certified by the National Safety Council as a Certified Utility Safety Administrator, and holds a Grade D3 Water Distribution Operator certificate from the State of California. Don's professional experience includes: 1965 - 1976 City of San Diego Water Utilities Department - held wide range of positions in field operations aspects of the Water Department including Lake Aide, Construction Laborer, Utilityman, Pipeline Patrolman, Pump Station Operator, Construction Foreman, and Senior Utility Supervisor. 1976 - 1995 City of San Diego Water Utilities Department - was responsible for the design, development and management of all safety, training and disaster preparedness activities for the Department, ultimately supervising a staff of 14 employees who provided safety and training services for up to 1385 employees. Personally conducted/facilitated more than 5,000 hours of em0loyee training and development activities. 1995 - 2007 - Vista Irrigation District - Handled all aspects of the District's Safety and Risk Management activities including Worker's Compensation, Public Liability, Property Damage, Occupational Safety and Health, and Environmental Compliance. Also coordinates employee training and development for State Operator Certification activities for the District.
